NARI Mid-Maryland gets new name

FOR THE FREDERICK NEWS-POST

NARI Mid-Maryland recently introduced an enhanced name for the chapter to help consumers understand better who is represented and the purpose of the organization.

The Maryland Remodelers Association, NARI Mid-Maryland, as the chapter is now known, announced its 2008 board of directors at the holiday reception at Brewer’s Alley Restaurant and Brewery in Frederick. The chapter raised more than $600 through a silent auction and the generosity of members for Toys for Tots, as well as many gifts specifically targeted for teenage girls, as they are often a forgotten segment of needy kids in the area. All donations will be distributed to local families through the Toys for Tots organization.

More than 40 members helped celebrate the holidays and welcomed its new officers: President Steve Klitsch, Creative Concepts Remodeling Inc.; First Vice President Christine Costolo, KC Company Inc./Pella Windows; Second Vice President Mark Pelletier, M.V. Pelletier Custom Building and Remodeling; Treasurer Steve Fennington, Sandy Springs Bank; and Secretary Barry Stohlman, Stohlman Tanzi Woodworks Inc.

“It has been an honor serving as your chapter president for the past two years,” said Doug Fauth, Carriage Hill Cabinet and Millwork Co. “Two years ago we had 23 members in the chapter and we are steadily growing. We now have 57 members and know that our new board will continue the growth of the chapter. We would not be where we are today without our current members reaching out to others in the remodeling industry and to the community to educate them and help them understand our orgainzations core purpose and with the assistance of our executive director, Filomena Thompson with Events Made Simple. All of these efforts have made it possible for us to reach out to the community and to others in the remodeling industry on current issues effecting homeowners and events for our members to help grow their business.”

The Maryland Remodelers Association, NARI Mid-Maryland chapter, has made its mission to bring educational events to its members and educate consumers on the importance of locating ethical, dependable, and experienced remodelers and contractors.

Visit www.narimid-maryland.org to learn about the chapter and to learn about upcoming events, homeowner resources, and much more. For information or questions, contact Filomena Thompson at Filomena@narimidmaryland.org, or 301-829-9866.

Houseworks Unlimited Honored With Big50 Award - [Mount Airy, MD] – [June 16, 2006] – http://www.remodeling.hw.net/industry-news.asp?sectionID=241&articleID=299263  Houseworks Unlimited, Inc. has been selected by Remodeling magazine as a winner of the 2006 Big50 Award in the Industry Impact category. The Big50 awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Remodeling Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. on May 19, 2006.  Winning companies are featured in the May issue of Remodeling magazine.

Each year, Remodeling magazine inducts 50 companies who have set the standard for professionalism and integrity through exemplary business practices, smart marketing, unique design, and extraordinary impact in their community or the industry at large. Big50 remodelers run successful, often growing, companies of various sizes that have taken the lead in raising industry standards.

We are very honored to receive this distinction,” says Craig Knott, CR- President of Houseworks Unlimited, Inc. “The award recognizes excellence and leadership, and we are privileged to be named to this select group of remodelers.”

Remodeling editors, columnists, industry leaders, and peers themselves make the nominations each year.  Following a lengthy evaluation process —  which includes interviewing people at the nominated companies, and often interviewing their competitors, suppliers, and subcontractors — Remodeling’s editors select the 50 remodelers who exemplify the very best of the industry that year, and who have something to offer other remodelers in proven practices. Winners are selected in these categories: business savvy, fine design, industry impact, market wise, movers & shakers, niches, sales & marketing, and teamwork.

Big50 remodelers are among the best in the business,” says Sal Alfano, Editorial Director, Remodeling magazine. “This conference brings them together for intensive training on how to be a leader in their business, and in their communities.”

Remodeling magazine, published by Hanley Wood, LLC, is the leading publication in the home improvement industry. Designed to address the specific concerns of residential remodeling pros, the magazine is both a business tool and an industry leader for a market that is projected to top $290 billion in 2006.
